I know I need level 10 Carpentry to make wooden frames, and I can achieve that by just crafting a ton of Log Wood blocks. Heck, I didn't even realize you don't get XP from crafting at a forge unless you have the forge OPEN when the item is created, I picked that up from a random comment in a Valmod forum. But I think it's hard for new players to figure out what does what, and what they need to do to unlock things.
